Hi everyone, this is John Mandrola from the Heart.org Medscape Cardiology and this is this week in

Cardiology for 214.20 Valentine's Day.

This week Cardiac Stents, Cardiac cardiac toxicity of cancer drugs, VT oblation, acute

H refibulation, and a brilliant conversation.

First up, Jack has published a very important and sobering paper on the long-term outcomes after cardiac

stint placement. Before I tell you about the study, let me tell you a story. A few years ago,

a man from Kentucky had a non-indicated stress test.

He had no symptoms but the stress test was positive.

Decath showed a significant LAD stenosis and he got a stent. Everybody was happy. Until three years later when he had to have back

surgery. A pre-operative stress test also not indicated showed that all's was clear. There was no

eschemia. Thank goodness. Then a day after back surgery, he has acute onset

chest pain, stilevation, and ventricular fibrillation.

He had cardiogenic shock and he survived but just barely.
