Hi everyone. Welcome back to Logical Bible Study, where we look at the gospel reading for today's

Mass. And today we're going to look at John chapter 1 verses 47 to 51.

So as always, we will go through the text and then we'll have a go at doing an exegesis of the text.

What does it really mean on the most fundamental level?

This particular text is not particularly well known.

When Jesus saw Nathaniel coming, he said of him,

There is an Israelite who deserves the name, incapable of deceit.

How do you know me? said Nathaniel.

Before Philip came to call you, said Jesus, I saw you under the fig tree.

Nathaniel answered, Rabbi, you are the son of God, you are the king of Israel.

So he then rushes to tell his friend Nathaniel about Jesus and Nathaniel is sometimes known as Bartholomew.

He's also one of the apostles eventually. So Philip goes off to see Nathaniel

and he tries to tell Nathaniel, but Nathaniel replies, can anything good come out of Nazareth? And then

Philip's response is, come and see. So Nathaniel does. He comes and checks out this Jesus guy and
