Summary

Dr. Anthony Fauci testified before a Senate committee and warned about needless suffering and death if the U.S. is opened prematurely. Ohio is just one of those states reopening without meeting certain White House guidelines. Republican Governor Mike DeWine joins AC360 to explain why he decided to begin reopening his state. Plus, as parts of upstate New York start to slowly reopen, the timeline of New York City reopening is still unknown. Corey Johnson, the speaker of the New York City Council, tells Anderson Cooper what he thinks reopening could look like and says it would be devastating if the city saw another spike in cases of the virus. new numbers, once again, projected an even higher death count. 147,000 people projected to

die in the US through August 4th. That's an increase of 10,000 from their previous projection.

The institute that publishes the model pointed to reasons, including a loosening of social

distancing policies and greater mobility for people. The director of the institute

1:12.8

sold CNN that if people are not cautious, if they don't wear masks, and if the nation

1:17.4

does not have the capacities to test, to do the contact tracing and to isolate people

who are infected, then quote, I think we'll see the numbers go up.

Today, Johns Hopkins reports there are 82,246 people who have died in the United States.
