Welcome back. This is Beyond the Box Corps. I'm Dan Schneier. That's Jacob Gibbs, and we are excited about today's show because those of you remember from last week, we broke down offensive lines in the NFL. What were they doing before

contact? Were they creating enough room for these running backs and our fantasy lineups to score

points? Today is the opposite version of that. That's probably not the right term, but it is an

extension of that. We are breaking down past protection. How are the offensive lines

protecting for these

quarterbacks? Are they giving them enough time to get through their progressions? Are they giving

them enough time to throw from clean bases and clean platforms so they can get our receivers that

we love the football? So it's an exciting show. I just watched so much ugly offensive line play

before this, Jacob. I can't believe some of how the offense. And it makes me feel good to be a Giants fan. Like through years, the Giants have had the worst offensive lines. That's certainly not the case this season. And a big factor is health as we'll go over today. A lot of injuries already were just in week five, but a lot of injuries on the offensive lines across the NFL that are really reshaping the fantasy landscape in a lot of ways. But before we do any of that, Jacob, how are you doing today, my friend? I'm great, man. I've been looking forward to this one, too. It's a lot of work. I went and tried to make sure I got a very good idea of who's hurt and where we're at with the injury side of things, because it truly is a battle of attrition up front. And like, man, there were, I looked at 32 teams and only like five of them or something are healthy. And we're only a month in. Like, it's crazy, dude. Yeah, it's a lot. So I want to have that in mind and then also try and look at the schedules and, you know, that influences things. Like I was talking to producer Aaron before he started. I was really surprised how high the Niners came out in these past protection rankings. And one thing he brought up was Mac Jones gets the ball out really, really quick. And so there's that to consider as well that like getting the ball up quick affects pressure rates. you know there's a lot like holding the ball

for a long time affects pressure rates and so you can't just sort by pressure rate um you can't just

necessarily sort by pff pass blocking there's a lot of stuff that goes into this um and we're beyond

the box score baby here we are we're going to do our best to uh contextualize all this giving an idea

of what we've seen through one month and what we

expect going forward when it comes to past protection, how that impacts not only the

quarterback, but of course the past catchers as well. So if you saw the thumbnail, you know,

we've got Nico Collins, I believe, at Brian Thomas Jr. or it's like, is there still hope? You know, these guys are, you know, downfield nico collins i believe at brian thomas junior or it's like is there still

hope you know these guys are you know downfield receivers that are clearly impacted by you know

whether or not their offensive line can afford time to you know find those deeper reads down the field

but before we dive into all that dan can we take it can we take a victory lab not here not a ge take it, can we take a victory lab? Not here.
