They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And for the most part, I think that's true. I do. I agree. But, you know, nowadays people are very critical of what they call modern art. Yeah. And sometimes, I can see it. Other times I think it's just an inability to interpret various art forms that are out there in the world. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's just, it's a symptom of like a closed mind. Like you're just not open-minded enough

You won't humble yourself to try and understand something that you don't. There's a great video essay by Jacob Geller called Who Hates Modern Art that kind of dives into the subject. Highly recommend. Yeah, yeah. But I think people have a hard time like understanding and interpreting contemporary art forms, whether it's music or like literal paintings and stuff like that. And usually I just think those people are kind of dumb or not really trying intellectually. You know what I mean? What I'm about to bring up, though, this is not the case. Okay. This is an example of what I think is stupid modern art. And it's from none other than Elon Musk. And I'm very excited to present this here on the show. It's not AI. Okay. That wouldn't have, that of course I would not consider to be art. Yes. This at least I think was a human that did this because it's like a physical thing but um Elon Musk posted this on

Twitter. Elon Musk said two years ago I commissioned an art piece a fork in the road had to make sure

that civilization took the path most likely to pass the Fermi great filters and the art piece is

literally just a fork in a road in a fake road it's It's not a real road. I saw that shit on Twitter. That is, it's, it's, there's, like, there's nothing. Yeah, there's nothing there's, there's, the road doesn't even look real. Yeah. I don't understand, man. We're, we're being so literal about it. No, yeah, it's,'s what I was going to say is it's like, there's no like room for interpretation here. Usually when you see a piece of art or a work of art, like there's some interpretation that the audience, the viewer has to do. There's nothing artful about this. There's no metaphor. There's no room to take anything else. Here, it's just extremely literal. And it makes me think of the people that critique modern art for not making any sense.

You don't even put any of the intellectual legwork in to understand these things. You need to commission art pieces that are so incredibly literal that there is no room for interpretation. And I think that's a sign of the

related, dudes that think they're smart love bringing up the firm eye paradox. It's an interesting

thing to like watch a Kurtz-Gazacht video about. You know what I'm saying? It's interesting

thing to like think about. Exactly. But dudes like Elon Musk use it in this way. It's like I am I am the arbiter of modern civilization. I am going to, because he does. He genuinely thinks I'm going to lead us to the space age. And people like Joe Rogan continue to feed into this narrative that he's going to let us colonize Mars and we're going to fucking terraform Mars even if we can't do that to our own fucking planet. I digress. No, yeah, it's pseudo intellectualism and it goes stupid. It goes crazy if you're stupid. On God. Because it's the one thing that dumb people know. Yeah, but it reminds me also of, I don't know if you saw this Twitter drama, but there was a PhD student and she posted her honors thesis or her PhD dissertation on Twitter.

Yes, yes. And she got lit up for using the words modern and contemporary because people were calling it redundant when these describe different eras of literature. And it just goes to show you that people are really stupid. Like they do not put in an effort to understanding like intellectual practices, whether it's in literature or art or wherever else.

But they try to act smarter than the person actually doing it.

And they're not actually doing any of the interpretation or like the,

they're not using any brainpower and understanding what they see before them.
