Our listeners might not be super familiar with the term bioethics. So tell us a little bit, what does that term refer to and sort of what's the field of bioethics about?

You know, that's the word that gets to either a blank spare or people running away.

And it's actually pretty hard to define, but I find the easiest way for people to get their arms around it is to think

about the kinds of decisions we make with respect to medical technologies because that's where

most people encounter bioethics and that's where you have a decision about say do we pull the plug

Do we use in-vutro fertilization? What about this stem cell therapy so questions where we have kind of high-tech

intersecting with health concerns but that's not all of it that's just most
