Fair Isle is a mecca for birds and birdwatchers alike.

It's a tiny way island which sits between Orkney and Shetland.

Since 1948, when it was first established,

the bird observatory there has attracted twitchers from around the world

and it's brought many benefits to the island, not least new blood.

Musician composer Inga Thompson is a child of the island, and although she now lives in Medlavian, just on the outskirts of Scotland's capital city, she's still very much hefted to the place.

Recently, Helen Edom and I met up with her

near her home at Pathhead, and she took us for a wee wonder.

We're going to take a wee detour down a small path called Dreepy,

which goes past Dreepy Burn. And we're going to reach the village of Ford,

and then we're going to take a wee back road into the Vogre Country Park.
