Summary

Read the Bible this weekend as a family. Choose a passage and sit down together as a couple, or with your kids, and read it aloud. Keep your reading short if you have young kids, but use the following guide as a way to engage the text.

Pastor Jon Tyson from Church of the City New York has three questions he challenges us to ask of our kids:

1. What does this passage tell you about God? 2. What does this passage tell you about yourself? 3. What does this passage tell you about how life works?

and reading them individually. So this week with your family, I don't know how much you do read the Bible with your family,

but just practice one day this week.

Read a chapter of the Bible as a family.

And I would encourage you if you have small kids,

1:04.3

even to older kids,

1:05.8

just have them grab a paper, some markers,

1:07.7

or pencil crayons, and just have them draw.

1:09.8

Draw what they're hearing, draw what they're seeing, draw what they are interpreting God is saying in this. Because it's

1:16.2

amazing to me when we ask children how they hear and see God, how often they teach us,

1:25.2

and how often their pure and innocent faith actually pushes us into higher faith.

1:29.7

And so, and push them to hear God for themselves because so often they're corrected.

1:36.5

And so often we harp on, you know, theology or we're telling them a story and, you know, getting the facts right.

1:42.5

Whereas if they can learn to engage the Bible for themselves,
