Summary

Since last we spoke, I have literally traveled around the world--and I can say with certainty there's nowhere I'd rather be than here. This week, a few reflections from my trip to Cambodia about what every culture has to grapple with when it comes to depicting God--and what's unique to the Bible. No one has ever seen God. So how can anyone know him? It's a question fundamental to both art and science, and absolutely everyone everywhere has to face it.

Welcome back to Young Heretics. This is the podcast where we tackled really tough questions and so today we're answering the one everybody's been wanting to know about and that is why did I have to miss the Super Bowl?

0:15.0

Okay, maybe not everybody has been wanting to know why I personally Spencer Clavin

0:26.2

had to miss the Super Bowl, but there is an interesting reason why and so once I tell you

0:31.8

you, I promise, are going to be into it it was not just

0:36.4

because my Tennessee Titans got kicked out I've said before that rooting for the

0:41.8

Titans in football is sort of like an act of self-harm at this point.

0:46.0

It's something you do as penicence for your sins, kind of a humbling exercise.

0:51.0

So there was no chance my Titans were going to the Super Bowl. After the Titans got kicked out,

0:55.7

I switched to rooting for the Browns because I have a buddy that's really into the Browns and we watched the Browns together,

0:59.9

but they didn't make it either. Nonetheless, it was a Super Bowl.

1:03.8

I would have watched it, except for one important reason,

1:07.2

which is that I was in Cambodia.

1:09.9

Since I talked to you last, on Friday, I have circumnavigated the entire globe.

1:17.0

That's actually the second time I've ever done that when you go far enough eastward on a trip, you have to then keep going eastward in order to make it back to the

1:26.7

U.S. So I've been around the entire world and I can say with confidence that there's nowhere

1:31.9

I'd rather be than right here with you.

1:34.6

And I actually would like to talk to you a little bit about some of the things I learned on my

1:38.8

trip to Cambodia.

1:40.5

I went specifically to CMripe to revisit the Grand Temple Complex of Ancor Wat and many of the other temples that are around that area.

1:50.0

It's somewhere that I went when I was in college and it just has always stuck with me haunted me the experience of visiting these temples that seem to have been kind of lost to time like they stand outside the passage of time in some way and

2:04.7

it's really amazing to me that more people don't know about this whole series of

2:09.9

temples this whole temple complex the history history over there. It was obviously buried under the turmoil of the Vietnam War and all of the horrible communist predations that went on in that area.
