This is the Fox News Rundown, Extra. I'm Dave Anthony.

Today, the scales of justice.

Republicans say it is time to rebalance them.

After years of tilting to the left, they say it dates back to even before the first Trump presidency.

He and many GOP lawmakers claim that the Justice Department and FBI have been weaponized by Democrats going after conservatives.

And now the president-elect is vowing to overhaul both in his next administration, nominating Pam Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General, to be the next U.S. Attorney General.

And Trump has nominated Cash Patel, who used to be a federal

prosecutor and the Deputy Director of National Intelligence to replace Christopher Ray as FBI

director with a goal of rooting out the bias. But Senate Democrats, they plan to push back at

confirmation hearings next year, and they fear Patel especially, might use the FBI as

the Republican's political weapon to get retribution against Trump opponents or those involved in

getting the president-elect indicted on charges related to the handling of classified documents

and alleged 2020 election interference, charges that have since been dropped since a sitting

president can't be prosecuted.

Now, we talked about all this with Chris Swecker, who knows the FBI inside and out.

He's an attorney now. But Swecker was an FBI agent who rose up the ranks to be the number

three leader in the bureau, an assistant FBI director in charge of all criminal investigations.
