So we spoke with Carol Roth, former investment banker, entrepreneur, and author of the book

You Will Own Nothing, about what she calls The Wealth Paradox, what's driving inflation and

consumer spending, and how to get more out of your money. We made some edits for time and

I wanted to actually start with inflation because it has come down a lot from the 22 highs.

Still hovering over 2% though.

How much of an impact does that have on how people are feeling about their finances?

In terms of inflation, I think it depends on the person.

You've probably heard of the K-shaped economy, which if you think of the letter K, you have

these two parts to the right side of the K. One of it is going straight up and the other one is

going straight down. And if you are an asset holder, if you are somebody who has benefited from inflation in your

assets in your 401k, your stock portfolio, the value of your home, then you are doing better

and you're not viewing the inflation as such a bad thing because you have had this

wealth effect benefit from it. However, if you are somebody who isn't an asset holder or maybe

doesn't have that many and really the inflation is impacting your cost of living, your everyday
