Hey everyone. So even though why it matters is moving on to other topics, there's still a lot of questions about COVID-19.

And a great place to find information is a new site from the council called Think Global Health.

It features some incredible reporting and they're doing a ton of fascinating work on the pandemic.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there and along with the CDC and WHL websites, think

global health is a really great way to get grounded and to begin understanding what's going

on.

I will relate that interesting story, the president of Kazakhstan actually visited a company called Hike Vision.

It's another one that provides surveillance technology.

He visited their office in China and he saw how, with one click on a person's face, you could get that person's school history, work history,

financial situation, and wait for it, how did this person spend his or her leisure time?

So where did this person go to have fun?

Did you go to the movies?

Did you stop by the bank?

Did you go to the post office?

Wow. Wow. Did you hanging out with friends?

Did you participate in a protest?

And his reaction after seeing all of this was,

we need this technology.

Oh, that's not where I thought this story was going.

This is probably not the first time you're hearing about China's surveillance technology. And that's because it gets a lot of coverage.
