Verse 13. Now the blood shall be assigned for you on the house where you are, and when I see the

blood I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike

the land of Egypt. So this day shall be to you a memorial, And you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout

your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance. Notice that word

memorial. That is a Greek word which shows up when Christ institutes the Eucharist at the last supper.

The night before, right, before it happened, he says, that's usually translated in English,

you know, this due in remembrance of me.

But it's the same Greek word that appears here.

Right.

This will be a memorial to you.

Right.

And so it's setting that up as the same.

And how does that memorial work here?

It's not just, oh, you guys are always going to remember that this happened, right?

That's not what it's saying, right? Because we had those instructions about how they were supposed to eat.

They're supposed to get dressed like they're going on a journey. Well, that makes sense right now because they're about to go on a journey. But 300 years later, a thousand years later, they were still getting dressed like they were going on a journey.

They were still saying, this is the night God set us not set our ancestors set us free from slavery in

Egypt and so every time this is celebrated the people celebrating it are participating in the event.

That's what the memorial means.
