| 0:13.0 | We have for you today what I think is a terrific conversation with an author named Ron Cox in Kansas City who has written a book called me and my best friend. And it's sort of one of those things that you and I would always maybe want to do. You take your life's experiences, you share them down to the best stories, you put them in a book. Most of us would send that to publishers, and they'd, of course, deny it. But they did not do that with Ron, who paid for this entire production cost himself. |
| 0:37.6 | Every nickel goes to charity. |
| 0:39.5 | He lost his nephew, Daniel, in Afghanistan, and all of this goes to an ROTC scholarship program and military charity. |
| 0:46.4 | So this is a fantastic conversation. |
| 0:48.6 | Before we get to that, the reason the next two or three podcasts are going to be a little different is by the time this gets posted, |
| 0:57.3 | I'm in Arizona visiting my grandbaby. |
| 1:01.5 | That's right. |
| 1:02.8 | My grandson was born two months and four days early. |
| 1:07.3 | And it happened last weekend, and I've kept it quiet here on the podcast because |
| 1:11.4 | preemies are a little scary and there was obviously a health emergency with mom and Spencer and, |
| 1:17.7 | you know, the whole thing. And it turns out that everything's going great. And so I just felt |
| 1:25.1 | it important to wait a few days. I let the patrons know on Tuesday with a patron podcast, but I just haven't felt good going public. Some people have emailed or texted. I guess Spencer maybe put something on Facebook. So it's gotten out there. I figured the family's putting it out there. Then they're feeling pretty good about where they are. The first couple of days were, as you can imagine, very difficult. The baby comes out weighing four pounds. It's a little scary. He immediately lost a little weight. And on the wall, they keep the grease board. He actually within hours was under four pounds. They lose weight after they're born. I think most people kind of understand how this works. But the lungs aren't developed, doesn't really know how to breathe on his own. They've got the pumper pumping his lungs and, you know, doing everything for him. He had, I guess, a blood pressure issue the first couple of days, and there were some meds involved, and then that stabilized, and everything seems to be taking just right. It is an absolute miracle that babies are born like this and that we have |
| 2:19.3 | the technology and the doctors and the caregivers and the people that know exactly what to do |
| 2:22.9 | and bring them along. It is believed that Rudy is going to be just fine. So I wanted to share that |
| 2:30.5 | with you and Spencer, of all things things gave him the middle name Paul, |
| 2:34.3 | which is my middle name. So I think that's pretty darn cool. We're very happy and proud |
| 2:38.8 | to have Rudy Paul Keatsman in the family, my first grandchild, and I'm in Phoenix, |
| 2:43.9 | visiting the baby. It's weird because we had, we had set up this weekend for Spencer to play |
| 2:49.9 | a couple rounds of golf with us, taking a couple of buddies to Phoenix for a couple days, and then running up to Vegas on Sunday to go to that Circa Stadium Swim thing where they have the sports book outside and all the giant Jumbotrons on the rooftop. |
