Summary

At the beginning of the year, few Americans would have been able to predict what the current political landscape looks like in the country. Vice President Kamala Harris became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, making President Biden the first president in over 50 years not to run for a second term. And former President Trump survived an assassination attempt, then chose Ohio Senator JD Vance as his vice-presidential pick. With a historically unpredictable campaign trail and a little over 3 months until Election Day, what should Americans be paying attention to?   In part two of her conversation with Professor of History at Rice University, author, and Presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, Martha and Douglas discuss whether Vice President Harris can maintain the momentum she's created since rolling out her campaign, how Senator Vance as the Republican presidential nominee impacts the former President, and how political dynamics could continue shifting up until November.   Follow Martha on X: @MarthaMacCallum Learn more about your ad choices.
