We have not one but two experts to help us through the subject, both professors at the University

of Bristol, Ronald Hutton and Ad Putter.

Ronald Hutton is a professor of history there and a leading expert on many topics including

folklore, ancient and medieval paganism and magic.

He's written many books and articles including the opening chapter chapter on Arfurean history in a volume entitled

the Cambridge Companion to the Arfurean legend, which was co-edited by our fellow expert today,

Ad Potter, who is Professor of Medieval English Literature and an authority on Arthurian

Literature and Medieval Romance with a particular interest in the story of Sir Gawain and

The Green Knight.

I'm going to put the first few questions to Professor Hutton and the latter batch to Professor

Putter before finishing with some general questions for both of them.
