Hey friends, it's Kristen.

As Joseph Smith stood inside the Kirtland Temple, he had an amazing vision that changed the world.

Thirteen years earlier, his beloved older brother Alvin had died without receiving the saving

ordinances of the restored gospel. Alvin's death truly must have broken Joseph's heart, knowing that

if the restoration had moved just a little more quickly, his brother could have been saved.

Previous to the restoration of the gospel, the common belief was that if you died without

being baptized, you went straight to hell. But in his vision in the Kirtland Temple, Joseph saw the

celestial kingdom and he said in Doctrine and Covenants 137, verse 5 and 7, I saw Father Adam and

Abraham and my brother Alvin. Can you imagine that? Right next to these great biblical heroes,

Joseph saw his brother, who hadn't even been baptized into the true church. Joseph was then taught,

all who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had

been permitted to Terry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God.

Now this might seem like old news to us, but this was brand new information to Joseph and the Saints of the time.

It was like an amazing giveaway on the radio, but instead of God saying, you get a car and you get a car, he was saying,

you get a fair chance, and you get a fair chance, and you get a fair chance. And what an fair chance and you get a fair chance.

And what an amazing gift that is.

So the takeaway of the day in five words or less is, everyone gets a fair chance.
