Evening Wire. The Guardia reopened this afternoon after a pilot and co-pilot were killed and dozens

were injured in a collision.

That was audio from air traffic control, frantically warning a fire truck on the tarmac to stop before crossing pass with an oncoming Air Canada jet arriving from Montreal.

The fire truck had been given clearance to cross the tarmac to address a separate emergency.

The crash occurred shortly after the jet touched down at a ground speed of about 30 miles per hour.

The force of the impact caused catastrophic damage to the nose of the plane, killing the two pilots and ejecting a flight attendant onto the tarmac.

The female flight attendant was found still strapped into her seat, which likely saved her life.

She was quickly rushed to a hospital with severe injuries.

All LaGuardia flights were canceled for several hours following the deadly crash.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and the NTSB are investigating how the incident happened.
