War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced this morning that an American submarine had torpedoed an Iranian warship, sending it to the bottom of the Indian Ocean off the coast of Sri Lanka.

This was the first time a U.S. sub had sunk an enemy ship with a torpedo since World War II.

A U.S. Navy ship also intercepted a missile targeting an airbase in Turkey on Tuesday.

Turkish authorities summoned the Iranian ambassador for answers about the apparent

strike. Meanwhile, the State Department reports that 17,500 Americans have been safely returned from the Middle East.

Secretary Hegeseth also announced today that American and Israeli forces would pursue total dominance of Iranian airspace and completely destroy Iran's military capabilities.

We have only just begun to hunt, dismantle, demoralize, destroy, and defeat their capabilities,

just four days in. Starting last night, and to be completed in a few days, in under a week,

the two most powerful air forces in the world will have complete control of Iranian skies, uncontested airspace. Hegseth noted the

nearly unlimited stockpile of precision bombs at the military's disposal, dismissing concerns about

the munition supply running out if the conflict goes long.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Raisin-Kane, noted the number of ballistic

missiles fired by Iran has dropped by 86 percent since the initial strikes.

The Pentagon has released the names of four Army Reserve soldiers killed in an Iranian attack in Kuwait over the weekend.
