justices of the United States Supreme Court? Concerns arise in Congress, citing last year's

attempted assassination of Brett Kavanaugh. One of the slides is making and this is a quote

making a rep and initiating prosecution is not the goal of the U.S. Marshall Service

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland was appearing before a Senate committee to explain his budget

request. It's a common proceeding for cabinet members who lead federal departments.

Often it's not noteworthy, but Alabama Senator Katie Britt took the chance to question

why U.S. marshals were instructed against riot control outside the homes of Supreme Court

justices following the leak of the decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

Britt showed training slides supplied by an insider Garland needed to defend it.

The marshals were explicitly told to avoid unless absolutely necessary any criminal enforcement

action involving the protesters. First Attorney General's ever ordered the marshals to protect

the residences of the justices and protect them 24-7. That's their principle responsibility.

But that doesn't mean that they are in any way precluded from bringing other kinds of arrests.

It raises the question about protection for the justices who often go out with protective details

unlike the president or congressional leaders and their homes are often on residential streets.
