Tuesday, August 31st, 2021. I'm Grinnall Scott. And so it has ended. The last American soldiers

have flown out of Afghanistan ending the United States longest war.

For those who have endured the weight and the crush to get out, it has been liberating.

But that, however, is not the story for everyone

and so while the war for the united states is over

the conflict for afghan civilians is just beginning.

They will have to deal with life under Taliban rule, and that will be extremely difficult

for many, especially those who have been exposed to a much more moderate lifestyle.

This is the Fox News rundown, evening edition.

The Taliban is in firm control of what is now known as the Islamic

Emirate of Afghanistan. On this day the American military presence is no

more with President Biden making that pronouncement official earlier today from the White House.

The extraordinary success of this mission was due to the incredible skill, bravely, and selfless courage of the United States military and our diplomats and

intelligence professionals.
