Seven years have passed since a gunman murdered 17 people inside a Florida high school.

It's been seven years since a 19-year-old man stormed the campus of his former high school,

Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High, in the affluent Fort Lauderdale suburb of Parkland, Florida.

He killed 14 children and three adults. The incident was unlike

previous school shootings and that it gave rise to the very vocal and visible response by surviving

students and their families who rose to social media prominence as activists and even politicians.

But it was hardly the last of school massacres, sadly, and in each subsequent

incident, whether in Texas or in Tennessee or Georgia or Missouri or Illinois or elsewhere,

it's revealed similar problems leading up to these massacres, namely lack security on campus
