Thursday, September 2nd, 2021. I'm Evan Brown. Hurricane Ida left Southern Louisiana in the

dark, but even as a former tropical cyclone, she had enough rain to put much of the northeast U.S. underwater in places that just never have dealt with that before.

The city can take about two inches of rain per hour.

The city, according to the mayor, could not handle three inches of rain per hour, which is what we saw on Wednesday night.

This is the Fox News rundown evening edition.

Record rain fell not just in New York City and its suburbs, but also throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

It all came from what forecasters call the remnants of Ida, the very same weather system that

days earlier as a category 4 hurricane hurricane laid waste to New Orleans and

surrounding southeastern Louisiana. That area still has hundreds of thousands

without power but Ida's remnants had no wind left to blow in New York, though she still

had more rain than it could handle.

You know, this was unprecedented, historic, record-breaking, rainfall, and flash flooding the likes that New York City has

never seen before.
