Monday, June 8th, 2026. I'm Eben Brown. A ceasefire seemingly ended, if only shortly, during the weekend,

with Israel and Iran firing heavily at one another.

Has the dynamic changed at all?

The Islamic Republic of Iran is trying right now, strategically in the Middle East, despite being weaker than ever, to prove that it's still lethal.

We've been able to get shots in at states that host U.S. military facilities and our close

U.S. partners, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, what have you.

Now it's trying to throw that weight around and connect the dots,

not just to save itself, but to be able to save its proxy, Hezbollah, Lebanon.

This is the Fox News Rundown Evening Edition.

Things seemingly have calmed down between Iran and Israel, at least at the time of this recording.

It followed an intense weekend, which began with Israel striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

and with Iran's Islamic Republic demanding the U.S. make Israel stop

if it wanted to continue negotiations, all leading to Iran firing missiles again at Israeli targets,

which were intercepted. Then Israel returned the gesture tenfold, hitting airports in Iran's

major cities, factories, petrochemical plants,

and even stockpiles of missiles, Iran probably thought they had kept secret. Iran now says

they've stopped. Israel says they'll pick it up again if they're fired upon. President Trump has

been tweeting for both sides to stop, but one can't help think the long negotiations

President Trump keeps insisting are progressing may have hit the skids.

The operating motif to keep in mind at the 50,000 foot level, whether we see deal making or war
