Well, today we're talking about the villain of our story, the wicked advisor named

Haman. But, spoiler alert, we know the end of the story, and Haman doesn't win. Instead,

God delivers the Jews from the massacre Haman had planned for them, working providentially

through Esther to preserve his chosen people. And today, the Jewish community still celebrates this

with a feast called Purim. They'll enjoy traditional cuisine

with dishes like hamintoshin, which is a triangular pastry stuffed with a variety of sweet fillings.

And lots of people will dress up in colorful costumes too. Overall, it's a day set aside to remember

how God delivered his people from annihilation at the hands of an evil man.

That sounds like a good reason for a feast to me. It's easy to read about some wicked

power-grabbing man from the pages of history and think, thank you, Lord, that I'm not like

that. But as Nancy goes into detail about Haman, let's listen with a humble heart. Maybe God's word

will expose some prideful attitudes in our own hearts. Here's Nancy. Well, in the last session,

we saw that Esther has approached the king. She has been given an opportunity to speak her mind.

The king says, what is your request?

Ask anything you want up to half the kingdom, and I'll give it to you.
