I'm hanging out with my family and they all run in to do something the other day.

It's a Friday afternoon when this happened probably about four in the afternoon my

family's all inside so I got a minute I was staring at my phone like an idiot looking

at the Twitter X whatever scrolling the four U tab I don't even know how those

things are considered for me. But I start to realize

that what I'm seeing happening in real time is a purge, a purge that's happening politically within a business that has been a very prominent

probably the most newsworthy software business here of the last year and something's going down.

I'm seeing all these tweets from names I vaguely recognize and it's stuff about

I don't know what's going on here something happened other people are like I just

lost access to the server other people are like I went out to my car I tried to come

back in the keypad isn't working what's going on and then other people in real

time are like I just got told four minutes before

end of work day that I am no longer needed at this place and people are

apologizing and angry and I'm like, whoa, this is like the historic purges that I read about throughout the history of the world, where with one fell swoop in one bold moment one group gets the upper hand

and they don't wait for the other team to be able to figure out what's going on

they act with impunity and rapidity and boom the other side is just gone now this is a business

Purge so it's a big deal but I don't think anybody died I mean I see that particular tweet but it

it changed a lot of people's lives and it represents a massive overhaul in power

but historically when we see this happen. No, people die. Purges are a thing, my friends, very famously there's a whole culture of Purge in the last 100 years, maybe 80 years before the birth of Christ and the late Roman

Republic, it turned superpergy and eventually it became a thing where if you've got a legion

and you have the upper hand politically, it became normalized to send around the brute
