Hey everybody I'm Matt. This is the 10 minute Bible Hour podcast and this is one of those cool double episodes where we just get going on one big idea and we just got to split it up over two days.

Yesterday we were talking about the history of plunder in the Old Testament and what plunder meant in the ancient world and today

we're looking more at the reality of what it meant that the Jews didn't

plunder on this day of victory in the book of Esther even though they had permission from the king to do so.

I'm going to have my wonderful friend Jeffrey play some music and we'll just pick up right where we left off. He seems to speak the language of whoever he is talking to at a given time and the stuff that happens in the Bible

makes sense to the people who are there on screen when it actually happens and

that would seem to be the case here with the plunder thing as well the

language is of course you take the stuff,

it's your best opportunity ever to harvest all of the progress of a defeated people group.

You get all of the human output of generations of this little city

state this little tribe this little nation so little kingdom whatever you get that

when you beat them.

And so it's like in that respect, it's like one of those phone app games that I see advertised,

I've never played one, but where you got like a little stick figure soldier and it has like a little

number one next to him.

You can pick one of three guys to fight and you pick one.

He's got like a little number two next to him, right?

He's got two power.

And you can pick three guys to fight next.

One of them's ten and one of them's two and one of them's a one.

And you're like, well, I have two and that one's only one.

I'm going to fight him.
