Hey, from CNN, I'm Afamadikai, with the five things you need to know for Monday, September 8th.

The House Oversight Committee has received its first batch of documents from Jeffrey Epstein's estate.

That includes a so-called birthday book, a reported collection of letters gifted to the convicted

sex offender for his 50th birthday that included a note bearing President Donald

Trump's name. Democrats on the committee posted an image of the page with Trump's name on X.

The president has repeatedly denied writing the letter and sued the Wall Street Journal, which first

reported on it for defamation. The panel has been investigating the Epstein case

and had subpoenaed the estate for documents as part of its probe.

President Trump is continuing to tease more federal action on crime in U.S. cities.

For weeks, Trump officials privately discussed targeting Chicago and Boston,

two Democratic-led cities

over their so-called sanctuary policies.

A federal immigration crackdown in those cities are modeled after the sweeps in Los Angeles

that took place in June, which the Supreme Court has now ruled can continue under certain circumstances.
