Summary

Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. This study contains 24 hours of verse by verse teachings. Copyright © 11-01-2006 Recorded: 2006

But before we even start, before we even start, I'd like to try to put this study in a little bit of a context.

1:10.2

We live in a culture that doesn't take the Bible seriously. During the first two centuries of our country's existence,

1:13.9

that was not true. Even people who didn't necessarily believe the Bible still respected both the

1:18.6

Bible and the people who respected the Bible. But we live in a day in which the very concept of God

1:25.9

himself is being devalued, and certainly his word thus is being devalued and certainly his word thus is being

1:29.4

devalued and within his word the most important part of his word is the cross and that's being

1:39.4

devalued not only outside the church but in many churches it's very popular today to struggle to be user-friendly and to spend money on the church, but in many churches. It's very popular today.

1:50.2

To struggle to be user-friendly and to spend money on multi-million dollar media presentations and back-screen projections and so forth and so on.

Not that there's anything wrong with these techniques,

but where they are an addendum to the Word of God.

2:01.9

But... where they are an addendum to the Word of God. But it's interesting as you study your Bible,

2:08.3

first of all, to recognize one of our fundamental commitments

2:12.5

is that it's the inerrant God-breathed Word of God.
