Summary

Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. 1:11.4	been doing this. But when we get to John, it's so important I wanted to set a session aside.
1:18.9	As we budgeted this, we realized we had a session we could commit to this. So we're going to
1:24.3	explore, having just been, you see, in the upper room, we've just been
1:29.0	there with the Lord's Supper and the washing of the feet and so forth.
1:34.6	But we left for this session to explore John.
1:38.0	Now you may recall when we were looking at Matthew in the very beginning, there are four

1:50.3	Sermon on the Mount, the Mystery Parables Discourse, and the Olivet discourse as it's called,
1:53.9	and the Upper Room Farewell Address that we're going to look at tonight.
1:59.3	Three of these, obviously, are in the Gospel of Matthew, and we reviewed that as we went.
