Summary

Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. 1:19.6	exploring the Gospel of Matthew. We're in session 19 of 24 of them, and we're focusing on
1:26.9	chapter 25 in this session. And we are in the second
1:31.6	unit, what we call unit two, which focuses on the Judean ministry and the final week of
1:38.6	Christ's ministry. Matthew from chapter 19 to 28 is what we call unit 2.
1:45.0	And this final week, of course, Matthew deals with it from chapter 21 to his last chapter 28.
1:53.0	And the 21 had the triumphal entry, you may recall.
1:56.0	The Olivet discourse is what we focused on in the previous session last time.
2:02.0	And in the session after this one, we'll start on the last, the Lord's Supper, some people
2:07.1	call it, or the last satyr.
