My name is David Scott, and I'm the host of of the History of Spain podcast, a bi-weekly podcast

to learn a Spanish history in a chronological order.

I'm here to introduce you these two episodes on the secular and Christian history of Spain

up to the Muslim conquest.

And why is it important to learn that? Why does the history of pre-Roman, Roman,

and Bisi Gothic Spain matter? For modern Spain, there are very relevant and influential events

that happen during that

long period before the Muslim conquest.

The cultural and linguistic romanization has last to this day in Spain, and the Christianization

of the Iberian Peninsula happened in the Hispania under the Roman Empire.

On the other hand, the memory of the Bisi Gothic Kingdom has been tremendously influential for the history of Spain,

because medieval Christian kings used that to legitimize their conquests and eventually unite politically and religiously the Iberian

peninsula.

Therefore, it's important to understand all these aspects before you study anything that

happen afterwards in the Iberian Peninsula.
