Meeting you right where you are on your foster care journey, this is The Forgotten Podcast.

I think it's sad from a childhood's perspective because it was so lacking and there's this,

it just carries the elements of abandonment. And as an adult now in this space, I grieve for the child that I was and what children

go through today that are similar to that. And I don't think anybody should have to go through

that. And that's what, thankfully, in God's long journey, I get to do what I do now to help

those other little Helens out there.

Today I want you to meet my friend Helen Parks. I met Helen at the Replanted Conference,

and as I talked to her, I knew I wanted you to hear her story.

Hearing from those who have walked through foster care, it's a gift to all of us.

We need this perspective of those who have lived it.

Helen's life had a tragic start when her father passed away at the age of three.

With her mother unable to care for her, she entered foster care.

Immediately into our conversation, you guys, my heart hurt for the pain she experienced in childhood.

She was bounced from relative to relative.

Helen has walked quite the journey.
