Serving God can bring stress and worry. Example of that is Martha. She was distracted with too much serving

and it brought her into a place where she was accusing Jesus. She was accusing her sister

and honestly she lived a very miserable day because she was

distracted with serving. Mary, on the other hand, was at the feet of Jesus and listening to his

voice. And then later on, Mary experienced something where Jesus came and he raised her Lazarus from the dead.

That was a huge miracle.

That caused Mary to be so fascinated in love with Jesus that she took her year's savings. We don't know exactly, you know,

what it was, but it was a lot of money she took so much that it provoked Judas's response

that this is a waste. And she broke that whole perfume and anointed Jesus.

And that's the work.

Jesus says, she did a great work for me.

I just want to speak for just a few moments about the work we do for Jesus.

This is going to apply to all of us as leaders, pastors, evangelists, people who work for the Lord.

That, number one, any time our work for God doesn't first begin with our friendship, our relationship with Him, it will lead to stress, worry, self-pity,

living under pressure instead of peace, and living in constant tension instead of his grace.

Mary was at the feet of Jesus and she was listening to his voice.

And I think that posture is so important for us as ministers

because many times our posture as ministers is Martha's posture.

We are in the kitchen distracted with much serving. Our first ministry is to the

Lord, not to people. The Bible says that Apostle Paul ministered to the Lord and fasted and the Lord

spoke and pretty much released him into the worldwide missions.
