Hey everyone, this is Mary Gelfoyle with Acts 29, and here's another Lenton bonus, where Father John encouraged us to apply those six critical questions that Pat Lentciona uses in his book, The Advantage to the Season of Lent.

0:14.1

The first question is, why do we exist? Father applied that to Lent by asking the question, why does Lent exist?

0:22.2

And he encouraged us to think that perhaps Lent exists to accelerate the process of becoming a new creation. There's lots here to

0:27.6

think and pray with my friends. God bless. Question from God, an image that he gave me, and maybe

0:34.4

our task right now in this first week of Lent. Those are the three things that come to mind,

0:38.7

right? It's always three things. So the question was simply this. I felt like God said to me the other day

0:42.7

in prayer, hey John, how many lengths have you had that you would say changed your life? So I thought

0:52.1

about that for a moment. and I went, none.

0:57.5

And I felt like he just kind of looked at me, smiled, and said, don't you think that's a problem?

1:11.9

brought about change. And again, at least the way I'm approaching Lent this year is Lent

1:16.6

exists for the purpose of accelerating the process of becoming a new creation. So I don't know

1:23.1

how many of my Lentz in the past have really accelerated the process of helping me become a new

1:27.3

creation, at which point I felt like he gave me an image. So I live at our Lady Queen of

1:31.4

Martyrs Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, live with a good friend of mine, Father Jims Millars.

1:35.6

He's gracious enough to put me up there. And there's this room where I meet people in,

1:40.0

oftentimes when they come to see me when we're not here in our office at Most Holy Trinity in

1:44.7

Detroit. And the room has a statue in it. And the statue is of St. Vincent DePaul. But it's a little

1:50.1

beat up. I think Father Jim told me that he found it in the basement. And so the statue's missing a hand.

1:56.9

The paint on the back of the head is chipped. It's actually in need of being repaired fairly substantially.

2:04.5

And I felt like the Lord gave me that statue as an image for me for Lent, and the image is simply,
