0:49.3

Got a bit of news for you, even during quiet times, talking about video games, outperforming movies, a psychologist's view of gaming, Blizzard discussing console games, and also news on the public beta for Mag. All that and much, much more. We shall be, uh, we, there's no agenda today. It's the end of the year, man. It's the end of the year. So you come back and enjoy, because today is Tuesday, the 29th of December, and we are recording for you the Midlife Game of Podcast. End of your show. So then. Brother. My man. It's been Christmas. Christmas was being and gone. I was back at work today. Oh, I bet that was good for you. Dude, I got a lot done. It was quiet. But it's been a hell of a year.

1:28.8

Dude, it's been a mad year. Mad year. Anything stand out for you? Oh, loads things. Loads things. We'll get into it. We'll get into it. Okay. So this, we'll just warn you now, this show might go on a little longer than normal. because, you know, the house is empty.

1:26.1

Dude, I've got no plans.

1:27.2

New Girl Plus is not here.

1:28.9

It's currently a man house. Yeah, this is a bro. This is a bro home. Forget your show home. This is a bro home. Oh, yeah. So, let's kick straight off, mate. What you've been playing this week? Dude, I've been playing rock band two. Now, I've been playing rock band two in a different way than I usually do. Because to me, rock band two, and the whole rhythm, plastic instrument thing, is all about doing it with all your mates in the same room and just having a blast, which is what we've been doing with it. It's a great effect. Very, yeah. But I've never really, I've never invested time in the career mode, particularly with

2:20.8

rock, I mean, in back of the day, guitar hero days, you would go through the career because that's how you don't unlock the songs. Now it's all, it's all unlocked from the start. I mean, I don't want to go through that ballache. and I've always known that the rock band career was it was a career I mean I'm sure that all the other games do it now

2:19.0

but you actually have a career as opposed to just going through a bunch of tiers of songs. Yeah. In which in this one, particularly you're earning the money, aren't you? You're unlocking fans. You're unlocking different venues. And even little things like, you never notice, but when you name your band you choose which which city you come from

2:52.6

that's right that's your starting location so it starts in london and we can't get over to

2:57.1

europe until we get the plane yeah i guess that's the same regardless well it'll be different

3:00.9

depending on which hometown you choose from that's right it added it had a nice little touch for it

3:05.4

the songs were mostly randomized in different venues you had

3:08.0

options of either i mean let's just pick our own set list and get some stars here we'll come back

3:12.8

to these tricky ones later maybe with it in different arrangement maybe using a different instrument

3:16.9

yeah because me new girl plus we made our own band and i really wanted to make my own rocker

3:21.7

because every now and again i'll be playing a game of rock band or guitar here with somebody. And they'll choose their own rocker. And I'm like, oh, that looks cool. Why does my guy look cool? My guy just has a beard and a t-shirt. And that's it. So I wanted to earn some money so I can get him some threads going down. So we've been playing it like that, going through the career. and we're unlocking shit, and we're kind of excited, thinking, well, we need to go back to that venue at some point because there's a special challenge there, which will allow us to progress somehow. But I also noticed that even through the career, it's throwing challenges at me, which are outside of the career. Because you can do the whole battle of the band's thing. That's right. And just go against these challenges, which are, I guess, they're rejigged every week or every fortnight, or for an amount of time, there'll be challenges available. So instead of just seeing, I guess if you're that competitive type on your own, you can go and look at at has somebody else five-star this song on

4:15.6

this difficulty yeah what you can now is you can say as a band how am i against the rest of the

4:20.3

world and of course my friends listen if i'm deeply invested in this kind of a game in the community

4:24.1

that gives you a every week or however time they however many times they actually make a new

4:29.2

on these challenges it's restart
