Welcome to the Jay Scott Outdoors podcast. Today I've got Ben Bro Shoe. He's with Shadow Valley Outfitters in southern Arizona. Ben, how you doing?

Very well, Jay. thank you for having me.

Yeah, I look forward to having you on this podcast.

We're going to talk southern Arizona, pretty much specifically Coosdear, but we're going to talk

some desert mule deer as well and we're going to cover OTC hunts both in August

December and January and then we're going to cover some rifle mule deer hunts

but primarily our focus is going to be on the rifle

uh... couster hunts in southern Arizona so

i'm excited to have you on the podcast i've known you for

for a long time we've exchanged texts and different things. I know you also have talked with my partner,

Dar Colburn, and you're formerly of the Arizona Game and Fish, now a firefighter. Why don't you give the listeners a little bit of a background on yourself?

Yeah Jay I appreciate it again thanks for having me so yeah I spent well I went to college at the U of A got my degree and I'm not going to hold that against you now.

Okay, so let's just get that I have to give. I have to give all my U of A people a hard time. I'm not going to hold that against you totally.

From that, yeah. So I got the premier degree in the state. But yeah, I went to college, got my degree. Shortly thereafter, started my employment with the Arizona

Game of Fish Department and bounced around the state primarily in the

southern half of the state and spent a total of 14 years with them in a number of

different capacities 10 years as a game warden.

And then in 2016, I decided to kind of change directions a bit in public service and went and got hired with

Tucson Fire Department.

All my time transferred in terms of the public safety retirement system so you know I didn't lose anything in that

regard and it's it's opened up a number of opportunities for me both personally

professionally and everything else.
