The Welcome to episode 68 of the Charles CW Cook podcast.

It's that time of the year.

It's the best time of the year. It's the best time of the year. But people who don't live in Florida, they talk

about the leaves falling and getting the chill in the air and the kids going back to

school and all of that but that's not really

a thing here.

What it is though is the time of the year at which all of the sports that I like intersect.

We've got baseball entering the fall,

entering the playoffs.

We've got Premier League soccer, although Manchester United are as dire as they were last year of the first three games or any indication.

We've got college football, although anyone who watched that

Gators game at the weekend probably is less excited about the season than they were before if they have anything other than hatred for the gators in their hearts

and then we have the NFL which starts tomorrow.

Actually, why am I so excited about this?

This brings me back to last year with that episode about sports and people who care about them.

This is the best time of the year, even though I know that Manchester United won't be great at soccer and the Yankees are

suspect and the Gators seem dire I'm still excited that there will always be sports on TV to watch. And of course I

haven't yet mentioned the Jaguars and that's because the season hasn't started and so they have done

nothing thus far to upset or demoralize me at this moment the Jaguars are perfect

it's like the day before you leave for a vacation and nothing yet has gone wrong.

And so the vacation in your mind is absolutely perfect the flights on time and

glorious and you get bumped up to first class and given free drinks and you land
