Hello and welcome to On the Ledge. It's still trailing plants week and today we're talking about serapagia woody eye, aka

string of hearts and I'm here in the sunroom with my string of hearts and I've got, I'm not going to hear

I'm just extending it out to see how long this serapedia actually is.

So, okay, the tape measure is a metre long, and I'm about two thirds of the way down.

So I reckon this stem is about 130 centimetres long. So when we say trailing plant, we really do mean

a trailing plant. The serapagia woodedite really can add some length. You need to find a high up

There are so many different names for Cerepigia Linearous subspecies woodyye, or Cerepia woodyye, as we sometimes shorten it to.

It's a plant that's native to southern Africa, so we're talking about places like South Africa, Zimbabwe and so on, and like so many other houseplants, it was first brought into homes as a house plant in the late 1800s. And it's been

popular ever since. Serapedia Woodyye is a member of the Milkweed family and there are

quite a few more species. Not many of these are grown as

house plants but you might see the curious Serapagia sand and sonii which has got a curious green
