Okay, here's one good piece of advice I give to people when they ask me about how to be a good leader as they enter into their leadership roles.

I think it's highly important that we really think of ourselves as what we can do for others and now we can do for ourselves. It's very easy to

fall in the realm that now you have a little more power you can get away with

things but that's not what it meant to be a leader. The best leaders are the ones

who wanted to be leaders, not the ones who wanted the promotion because they could come in earlier

or get a bigger paycheck. Coming to work and now acting selflessly, understanding that now you serve

them, they no longer serve you. And going out of your way to make sure that you show them

that you're also still a part of the team, you'll do whatever it takes to make their life

easier and their job easier because the whole world is trying to make law enforcement much more difficult.

The last thing we need is continued

leadership trying to make it difficult in-house. So support your people, have their back

and stand up for them. And when they're wrong, you could let them know the wrong,

when they're right, make sure you got their back and you're telling other people that they were right,

and you're going to stand firm behind them.

Number one, you can't possibly know everything, and that's okay, because none of us did when we first
