0:22.7	which is based on her personal experiences inside a high-intake animal shelter in Los Angeles,

0:32.4	but puts them in a context of how what happens to different animals is inextricably linked to human ideas
0:40.2	about race, class, gender, ability, and species. Wow. Well, it's an academic work,
0:48.6	ethnography. It is not terribly difficult to read, but it's very, like, it's very carefully thought out. She has a lot of
0:56.0	theories and ways of looking at what's going on here that really broadens the subject to
1:05.6	so many different ideas and so many different observations about what it means to live in our society
1:14.3	and how really shelter animals are just entwined in that whole system.
1:19.4	Anyway, I'm saying it immeasurably worse than she will, so we'll just wait for the interview,
1:24.9	but really, really interesting work.
