Summary

Graeme Hall explores the origins of resource guarding; it likely starts as attention seeking, but there could be a genetic element too. Does your dog snarl when you come close to their precious item? Ignoring them entirely might just be the best thing you can do. Do you have a question for The Dogfather? Send Graeme a voice note and a video of your pesky pooch to [email protected].

occasionally she does like to guard items around the house. These are really random items and

1:36.2

they can be located anywhere in the house. When she's decided she's guarding it, she does

1:41.4

become very, very vicious. It's like a red mist comes over her and there's

1:46.4

no getting that item off of her. She can sit on it for quite a few hours. So you can imagine it's

1:53.2

quite a struggle sometimes. And we have two children in the house who are under 10. So we do worry

that if she does want to attack when she's got

2:02.7

something that something could happen to them all other times she is as nice as pie but when she's
