0:00.0	Hello, fellow teachers, and welcome to another episode of gospel teaching. I'm Casey Griffiths.
0:06.0	You know, the other day I was having a conversation with one of my colleagues, and we were talking about the challenges we're facing as a church.
0:13.0	And he said something that really made me think. He said the biggest question we face as a people is how to answer the question, what is a prophet?
0:22.6	That's a question worthy of deep reflection for all of us.
0:26.6	As religious educators, we immerse ourselves in the words of the prophets, ancient and modern.
0:31.6	And on any given day, we might be helping our students connect with an ancient text or the words of a modern prophet
0:38.0	of God, and not just the presidents of the church, but modern apostles and all of the general
0:43.6	officers of the church. It's a wonderful thing to not only be able to draw on the canon of
0:49.4	the words of God to early prophets, but to see the Spirit of God inspiring leaders in our day to provide
0:55.5	counsel and guidance.
0:57.1	But it can be difficult to know how and when to use the words of the leaders of the church
1:01.6	to teach our students.
1:03.8	Learning to teach using a talk is a whole different skill set, and one that is sometimes
1:08.6	a struggle for Latter-day Saint religious educators.
1:11.7	So today we've invited two teachers who are experts at this skill to walk us through the process.
1:16.8	Matthew Richardson and Barbara Morgan Gardner love to teach using the words of the leaders
1:21.5	of the church, and they are skilled at using them to touch the hearts of their students.
