Hey, everybody. This is Father John Ricardo with Acts 29. And in the middle of all the craziness

0:05.5

and the uncertainty that's going on right now, it seems from our perspective as a team that it's

0:10.7

worth using these days to reflect in a more deliberate way on the scriptures every day, which

0:16.6

for many of us now is the only spiritual food that we're receiving. And so we're going to do a special podcast series simply entitled,

0:24.6

Be Not Afraid, God's Word in Uncertain Times.

0:28.0

And we'll try to post something every day, usually reflecting on the scriptures,

1:11.8

crowd that's gathered together, and a number of the Jewish people in the community, we want to be

1:16.4

careful we understand this correctly because Paul and Barnabas are themselves Jewish. They begin to

1:20.8

accuse Paul of all sorts of things. There's a jealousy which stirs up amongst them. They begin to

1:26.9

reject what Paul's saying. Paul

1:29.3

says in turn, fine, we're going to the Gentiles. The Gentiles rejoiced and there's more uproar,

1:34.6

more fear, and they have to flee the city and head off to a town called Iconium. And I'll bet most of us are just like,

1:42.1

what in the world is all the fuss about?

1:46.0

And I think that's because as we read Acts and we try to picture Paul, most of us, I know I do this all the time, we're reading it with 21st century American glasses on.

2:00.5

But we have to be careful to understand not to read it that way
