Hey Jesse, I just got some really good news a couple days ago.

You always seem to have news whenever we record a podcast, what's going on?

Isn't it weird how that works out?

Okay, so do you remember, I've talked a few times about this guy named Stort Regis, who's

a professor of computer science at the University of Washington, and he, there's been this

like campaign to basically get him fired, coordinated by students and some faculty members,

because he has this very problematic belief that the reason that there aren't more women

in computer science is not because of oppression and prejudice, but it's because of a different

sort of cultural and possibly biological factors differentiating men and women.

You know what I'm talking about?

This was the guy who physically assaulted a bunch of his students' feelings, right?

Exactly, he did.

He physically assaulted their feelings by saying that women in tech are not oppressed.

Okay, so I, like two years ago, I filed a public records request to get the emails about Stort

between his colleagues, which is one of the great things about reporting on public institutions

is that if somebody is, you know, if a department had his shit talking a colleague, we can

find this stuff out.

So it's been two years since I filed this public records request, and I finally got an

update from the University of Washington, and they told me that they had to, so they had

to unfortunately extend the response date to my public records request, but at least I

have a new one.
