Last time, as the main landings of torch took place during the early hours of November 8, 1942,

two special operations were carried out at the center and eastern task forces locations.

Operations terminal and reservists were to capture and hold the port facilities at Algiers and

Iran, respectively, yet both failed. Allied troops were killed

or captured. Oron's port would be wrecked, but not Algiers, as the Vichy troops there had been too busy
