Last time, though Hitler and Guderian had a meeting of the minds when it came to the pointlessness of Operation Citadel, the attack on the Kersk salient,

desperation overrode all their concerns. It was deemed the best of a bad situation,

and quite frankly, something needed to happen, as the Soviets were still building up their forces near Kersk and would themselves attack when they deemed ready.

As the first half of 1943 went by, only Goderian and Minister of Armaments Albert Speer

still opposed Citadel, which was not enough. Their concerns about the new Panzer, the Panther,

still having development problems, was brushed aside.
