Des Moines. We talk about U.S. men's soccer. Hey everyone, before we get into the game, we should mention something.

Darryl Grove, one of the hosts of the Total Soccer Show, announced on their

podcast last week that he's been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Yeah, obviously... that he's been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Yeah obviously bigger news in that podcast than anything that's happening on the soccer

field.

Right and most of you probably listen to TSS already and this isn't news to you, but even so, we want to say, you know,

Darryl is a really kind, generous dude in addition to being a very sharp soccer mind and he's been a good friend to this

podcast and we want to encourage people to donate to his go-fund me. It's on

Twitter we've retweeted it but he's going to face big medical bills before he hits his out-of-pocket

max and will miss opportunities to work as he fights this cancer. There will be a link to the go-fund me page in the show notes and

you know we'd like to encourage people to donate to that if they can.

But Darryl would want us to get on with it, so let's talk about the game.

The USA beat Costa Rica and San Jose California 2 to 0, with a couple of goals in the last 10 minutes. This was a Costa Rica

side that was a bit stouter than the Panamanian opponent a week ago.

Still far from a first choice roster for either team.
