golden age of Radio.

This week we're saluting the married detective duos of the radio era.

The husbands and wives whose quality couple time consisted of stumbling into mysteries and solving murders.

And will open with Pam and Jerry North, whose adventures began in novels before they moved

to radio in 1942, where Mr and Mrs North were heard

all the way up until 1954.

Today we'll hear an adventure starring the first pair of actors to play the North's, Joseph

Curtin as book publisher Jerry, and Alice Frost as his wife Pam.

They starred together in Wheel of Chance, originally aired on CBS on June 9,

1953. In this one the Norths are returning home after a vacation south of the border.

But along with souvenirs and memories, they've brought something else back with them,

something smuggled into their car, unbeknownst to them, by criminals who now want it back.

Then we'll hear Pat Abbott, insurance investigator, and his wife Jean, who often joined Pat on his

cases.

Like Mr and Mrs North, the Abbots originated in mystery novels.
