Summary

We have such an interesting guest this week. Guinevere Drabik, or Lucky. She thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2023 and found a community that she had been looking for.

She shares great stories about her time on trail and recalls several people who influenced her hike, with a dry wit that really made me laugh.

You can see more of Guinevere on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/luckyhikesandwrites/ , and read her blog on the Trek at https://thetrek.co/author/guinevere-drabik/ . She is also on Substack at https://substack.com/@luckyhikesandwrites

Dave has hit the 500 mile mark, eating everything in his path as trail magic seems to follow him around,

while Beth and Andrew meet a friend of the show. And Andrew gets a tattoo; a hiker's rite of passage.

I used my hike last year on the South West Coast Path in the UK to help raise money for my absolute favorite charity, Parenting Matters, on whose board I've been privileged to serve for over a decade. You can learn more about the hike and the organization–and donate–by visiting https://parentingmattersfl.org/eventer/hike-with-steve-empowering-parents-one-step-at-a-time/edate/2024-04-15/. I hope you want to support this critical mission.

Don't forget. Our entire series of videos from our Woods Hole Weekend in 2022 is now FREE and available at my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA8ImK4qpNc&list=PLu8u88nsJtgWZxT8DLwEW2yXcz4gT6HXs There, you'll find all sorts of tips and tricks that our guests took away from the weekend that helped them with their own hikes this year. Check it out.

I often ask listeners for ideas on who to interview, and I'm sure several of you say, "I could do that. I've got an awesome story to tell." You're the person we need to hear from. If you'd like to be interviewed on the podcast, just register as a guest on the link below, and I'll be in touch. https://www.hikingradionetwork.com/show/mighty-blue-on-the-appalachian-trail-the-ultimate-mid-life-c/guests/intake/

I have had a heck of a time trying to edit this week's show as Gwynnevere Drabbe didn't

have a decent microphone and we had to use the mic on her computer, which sounds a little

1:07.9

bit tinny.

Along with that, she had an extraordinarily determined dog, which sounds a little bit tinny. Along with that, she had an extraordinarily

1:12.3

determined dog, which even though you don't see video, I can see the dog all the time,

1:17.9

desperate to try to get in on the act. Editing the dog took half my time. Nonetheless,

1:23.2

she is a compelling guest and I hope you're able to get through the not so good sound

and listen to what she has to say.
